This program will require registration because there are a limited number of spots and it will be a 9 week class, 2 hours per class, 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). The teenagers will go through 3 different workshops that will be split up into 3 week increments where they will learn production and film, expressive arts class, and a poetry/storytelling class. Week 1-3, the production class will focus on the introduction to film making and learning the skills to film and edit highlights or mix tapes of basketball games. Teens will also be taught the basics of camera work progressing all the way to filming and editing highlights on their own. Week 4-6, the expressive arts class will focus on expressing their creativity through designing. Everyone will have the ability to use their creativity to come up with different jersey and short designs and even court designs, and combining it with our overall message makes people aware of gun violence and how to prevent it. Lastly, week 7-9, our poetry/storytelling workshop will be focused on community, bringing in children who come from the same areas will allow children to share experiences and help them relate to each other. Here they will learn what poetry and storytelling is and how to create their own with the ultimate goal of empowering these teens' voices and making them feel heard in our mission to bring awareness to gun violence and safety to the streets of philadelphia.
